You’re matched and the baby is born!
Soon you will bring your baby home!
The Placement process begins upon the birth of the infant. The birth parents cannot legally relinquish their parental rights until the baby is at least 72 hours old. In most cases, the infant may remain in the hospital as the process unfolds. An adoptive placement occurs once the birth parents’ rights are terminated. Upon termination of birth parents’ legal rights, Adoption Connection assumes legal custody of the adoptee until time of finalization.
What happens after Placement?
After the child is placed in your home, but before the adoption is finalized in Probate Court, Adoption Connection will provide post-placement services.
The State of Ohio mandates post-placement requirements that include monthly visits and reports. These visits will continue until the adoption is finalized. Our knowledgeable adoption social workers will also continue to provide support and counseling as well as submit all necessary adoption paperwork.
