Dear Birthparent,

Our names are Brett and Mandy and we have been married for 4 years. We both come from large families and hope to have a big family of our own someday. We are glad to have the chance to possibly meet you and get to know you better. We can’t imagine the emotion and energy it takes to work toward this decision, and we hope you have good people around you to help you. We wanted to let you know a little more about who we are, what life is like in our home and what we would provide to fulfill the dreams you may have for your baby.

Why we are adopting
You may notice that we are a little younger than most couples that are looking to adopt. This is partially because adoption was going to be an important part of our lives from the beginning of our marriage. We are now blessed at this time in our lives to know that God is calling us to add a new member to our family. Here are some things about us that we think are important for you to know.

Who we are
We met our freshmen year at the University of Dayton and began dating shortly afterward. Mandy is fluent in Spanish and has her Masters in Education.  She is currently a Spanish teacher. Brett majored in religious studies and marketing. Brett works in marketing and admissions. We both have a love for adventure and travel. Brett has had the opportunity to travel through creating service projects for high school students all over the country. Mandy has had the chance to travel through studying Spanish in other countries and sending groups of students to study abroad. When our family is ready we will make sure that our children have the chance to learn more about other cultures and people.

Some other quick facts about us.

• We love races. We have run marathons and are actually running one this year.
• Mandy grew up on a chicken farm. She can't stand eating eggs!
• Brett loves scary movies.
• We are both Catholic. We have three godsons and they are an important part of our lives.
• We have 1 dog. It's an 8 pound dachshund named Izzy.
• Brett loves to cook... even though he is pretty messy in the kitchen.
• We have season tickets to University of Dayton basketball games. Brett has been going to them since he was 8 years old.
• We both work for schools. We are fulfilled by being a positive influence on teenagers.
• We have two nephews who we love and there is a third one on the way for our family.

Our Family
Family is an important part of our lives. On the weekends you will find out spending time with them.  We like to have cookouts together, go to UD basketball games together, and spend evenings outside playing with our nephews in the summer.   

Some quick facts about what kind of parents we will be.

• We both have careers but family is, and will always be, the most important part of our lives.
• We would love for our children to grow up able to speak two languages.
• We would like for our children to attend private, Catholic school.
• We would like for our children to understand the importance of knowing different cultures.
• We want our children to have an active youth with many friendships, but we want to nurture their creative passions.
• What we want most for our children is for them to grow up healthy and be happy.

Our Relationship with You
We would also like you to know that if you choose us as adoptive parents, we would be happy to discuss an open adoption plan. If it's your wish, we would like our child to get to know you through e-mails, pictures, and visits.  We would be very excited to meet you.  

We know that there is so much more for you to find out about us. A letter and a book will never come close to expressing how much love we have in our hearts for another member in our family, but we hope this can allow you to understand who we are a little better.
