Chad and Michelle

Hello!

We cannot begin to understand the choices you are making right now.  What we can understand is how much you love your child as you look to make an adoption plan.  We assure you that family is our number one priority and we will love your child unconditionally as we provide them with a healthy, safe and enriching childhood! Thank you for taking the time to “get to know” us, we look forward to getting to know you too.

We met at Miami University as part of a community service organization about 15 years ago.  We developed a strong friendship and hung around the same people before ever going on our first date to a Miami Hockey game.  We are blessed to be each other’s best friends today and enjoy doing many things together from movies to travel.  We’ve been married for 10 years and look forward to building a family through adoption as well all of the joys and challenges parenting will provide.  Adoption has always been a part of Michelle’s life.  Michelle’s dad is adopted and has a wonderful relationship with his birthmother, Michelle’s Grandma Theresa.  We are excited to expand our family and share our love with a child.

Chad was born in a small town south of Columbus, OH.  He has an older sister who lives in Houston, TX with her daughter, and a younger sister who lives in his hometown with her husband and two boys.  Chad’s parents still live in the home in which he grew up.  Chad majored in Education.  He went on to earn a Master’s Degree Educational Leadership.  Chad taught middle school Math prior to his current position as an Elementary School Principal.  Chad is fun-loving, caring, thoughtful, analytical, hardworking, loving, and pays great attention to detail. Chad loves to play games-and win!  Whether he is playing corn hole in the yard with friends, playing board games with our niece and nephews or enjoying a game on our Wii of Mario Party or Guitar Hero, he loves to play games of all sorts.  He can’t wait to teach our child the rules of all his favorites—and even let them win.

Michelle grew up in Cincinnati as the oldest of three children.  She has both a younger sister and a younger brother.  Michelle’s sister is one of her closest friends and lives just 15 minutes away with her husband and 1 year old daughter Reagan.  Reagan is looking forward to having a playmate!  Michelle’s parents also live about 10 minutes away and her brother lives close by as well.  Rarely a day goes by when Michelle doesn’t talk to one of her siblings or parents.  Michelle earned her Bachelor’s degree and then changed her mind about what she wanted to do with her life!  So, she went back to school to become a teacher.  Michelle teaches 7th and 8th grades and has the opportunity to work part time once our child is born.  Summers and holidays off will give her lots of time to spend with our child also.  Michelle is creative, energetic, hardworking, witty, nurturing and warm.  There is nothing quite like the smell of Michelle’s lasagna in the kitchen or the taste of her fresh salsa in the summer when tomatoes are at their peak!  She also makes a mean chocolate cake and some killer oatmeal cookies.  Michelle loves to feed people and to entertain. She is just as at home in the kitchen cooking a simple grilled cheese as she is preparing a sophisticated meal for a dinner party.  She looks forward to teaching our child to bake Christmas cookies from her favorite recipes.

When we purchased a home, we bought a place with room to grow.  We live in a home with plenty of room for children.  There are bedrooms waiting for children and a large kitchen and family room waiting to be filled with the sounds of children playing.  There is also a finished basement that we hope to turn into a playroom!  We have two flat acres perfect for soccer games in the front yard or riding bikes in the driveway.  There’s even a fenced in pond for fishing and a swing set ready and waiting.  We live within minutes of a park and look forward to joining the YMCA and teaching our child to swim in the summer.  We share our home with Reese, our three year old Miniature Dachshund.  Reese has grown up around our nieces and nephews and loves to play.  She is looking forward to having someone besides Chad to chase her around the house and yard!  She is a gentle, sweet dog who lets our nieces and nephews tote her around.   She loves a good game of fetch too with whoever will play.

We love spending time with our families!  They really are the most important parts of our lives—they are full of fun and laughter.  Beyond spending time with families, we have a lot of other interests too.  We love to attend hockey games and cheer on our Alma Mater just like we did on our first date.  We love movies of all kinds too, especially comedies and animated films. It is not unusual for us to go see the newest 3-D animated film on the weekend it opens!  We also have season passes to a local amusement park and enjoy seeing the shows and riding the rides together.  Getting together with friends to cook out or to play games is another one of our favorite ways to spend our time.

We’ve also spent a lot of time traveling together.  The smell of the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, the sound of a waterfall in the Smokey Mountains, the feel of sand between our toes, the adrenaline rush of a ride on Space Mountain, or the peaceful tranquility of a boat ride on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire—it is hard to decide which is our favorite vacation destination.  We love traveling!  We enjoy many different types of vacations—relaxing beach vacations, nature rich trips to the Great Smokey Mountains or the Northeast, time spent visiting family in Houston, TX and action packed trips to Walt Disney World.  We’ve experienced many cultures and learned a lot through our travels.  We would love to share the world with our child too!

We are blessed to have had wonderful educations.  Chad attended a great public school that offered many opportunities.  Michelle attended Catholic schools and had many wonderful opportunities as well.  We both worked hard to complete college degrees and continue to further our educations.  We want to share all the opportunity that comes from a wonderful education with our children so that they can pursue whatever road in life they choose.  We are lucky to live in an excellent rated school district that offers many opportunities for students including sports, drama, art, academics and more.  We will support our child in every step of their education from math homework to spelling lists.  Michelle can’t wait to drive “mom’s taxi” taking our child to dance and swim lessons or to scouts and football practice (or whatever their interests are)!  Just as our parents supported us, we will be there cheering on our children and helping them to grow in whatever area interests them.

We both come from working class families and were the first member of both of our families to complete four year college degrees.  We believe in working hard but also in spending time with family and enjoying life.   Our parents have strong marriages—both will celebrate 40+ years together on their next anniversary.  We are blessed to have learned so much from their examples and know we can provide this same positive example for our children.  From our families, we’ve taken a great appreciation for dinners together around the table, a love of travel, and a strong sense of right and wrong.

We look forward to meeting you and talking about the relationship you would like to have with our family.  At the same time, we will respect your decision as well if you choose a closed adoption.  We are willing to send photos or videos, or letters if you choose.  We would love for you to join us for holidays and birthdays as well.  We know we will share many family adventures with our child—laughing together, singing silly songs, playing in the yard and celebrating everyday together!  Just as our child grows, we will too.  Along the way, we will share our child’s story with them and hope that you will also be a part of our extended family and our family’s story.  Thank you for taking the time to read our profile.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you make your adoption plan.  We look forward to meeting you and sharing more of our story and learning yours!

Sincerely,

Chad and Michelle
