Chuck and Kelly

Dear Birthparents,

We begin our letter to you with heartfelt admiration for the choices you have made this far for your precious child and for considering adoption. We are Chuck, Kelly and Ethan, and we thank you for taking the time to get to know us and for considering us as a potential adoptive family. We truly believe that adoption is a wonderful way to grow a family!

We met while at college, washing dishes to earn money for school and became the best of friends. We both enjoyed playing basketball or volleyball and spending time with friends. Chuck actually tells people that he fell in love with me after I pushed him down in a recreational basketball game. After college, our new jobs took us to different cities, but we always remained close friends. As a result of this bond, we found ourselves getting back together as a couple for good and married a few years later. We have been married for 13 wonderful years.

Our son Ethan joined our family through adoption 6 years ago. We received a call out of the blue asking if we were interested in a beautiful baby boy. We immediately said “yes” and rushed to the hospital to meet our son. It was an amazing day and we are truly blessed to have Ethan in our lives. We also met another person on that special day, Ethan’s birthmom, “Malisa-mom”. It was wonderful to meet Malisa and to learn about her history. It is great to be able to share information with Ethan about his birthmom and about his heritage. Although Malisa-mom has chosen not to be in contact for now, that door is always open. We send regular pictures and letters to Malisa-mom, so that she can see how our boy is growing and changing.

Ethan is a happy child, full of energy who loves playing with his friends. Ethan is very playful, has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to tell knock-knock jokes. Ethan is a typical 6 year old boy who likes swimming, gymnastics, horseplay, art, pets, fishing and video games. His favorite subjects in school are art, snack and math. Ethan is so very excited about being a big brother. He loves babies and is an excellent helper. He has been putting some of his toys and books aside to share with his new brother or sister.

Chuck is a wonderful man and father. Chuck’s primary job is to be stay-at-home dad for Ethan, but he also works part-time at a local hospital as a Respiratory Therapist. It is wonderful that Chuck and Ethan get to spend so much time together, they have a special bond. Chuck and Ethan participate in many activities together including play dates, sporting events for parents and children or just spending time at home. Chuck will continue to be a stay at home dad once the new baby comes. He is one of those people who always has a smile on his face and loves striking up a conversation with new people. He enjoys watching and playing sports of all kinds. Chuck is a huge Ohio State Buckeye and Bengals football fan. I sometimes think his entire wardrobe is geared towards football.

Kelly is one of the most supportive and loving women I have ever known. Growing up in an Air Force Family, Kelly had the opportunity to travel the world. Because of all this travel, Kelly is committed to her family and has incredibly strong ties with her parents and siblings; family always comes first for her. She is an amazing mom with a huge heart and is always willing to help out. Kelly is always coming up with new art ideas that allow Ethan to express his creative ideas, things to grow or places to visit to keep him engaged and learning. Kelly works as a Director of Operations for the local utility. She has been at the same company for 18 years and enjoys the challenge of running a large operation.

We absolutely love pets and currently have a dog (Cory), 2 gerbils (Laser Tag and Laser Flash) and 14 fish (the tetras, Mr. Ray, Pinky, Molly, Mr. and Mrs. Guppy). We enjoy playing with and watching our pets.

We enjoy spending time with our families, friends and neighbors, as well as spending family time at home. We both come from large families. In total, Ethan has 13 cousins with 1 more on the way. Chuck’s extended family lives close by. His parents and 3 brothers are all within ½ hour of our house, so we enjoy visiting them and keeping up with all of the family happenings. Kelly’s family is spread out all over the country so we enjoy visiting her parents, sister, brother and their families each year for Christmas and at a gathering each summer at a new place. So far we have visited Walt Disney World, Michigan City, Fort Walton Beach, Knoxville and Chicago. What we enjoy most, however is taking the time each day to do something as a family such as going for a family walk, playing a game, playing catch, or snuggling up together and reading a book. We are a very close family and love each other very much.

We live in a brick, two-story home with 4 bedrooms and a spacious finished basement in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. We have a large, fenced in back yard where we love to play soccer, catch or watch the stars at night. We have a children’s park a short walk from our house with swings and slides where we enjoy meeting other neighborhood families. The neighborhood is full of children of all ages, running, playing sports or visiting. We are blessed to have many wonderful friends and enjoy having them over to cookout or play games.

We love children and would love to grow our family again through adoption. Since this letter only gives you a glimpse of our family, if you have any questions or need more information to help you with your decision, you have only to ask. We want you to be comfortable with us. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about our family!

Sincerely,

Chuck, Kelly and Ethan
