Dear Birthparents,
We can only imagine how difficult of a decision this must be for you, and we hope this process will help you to decide what is right for you and your baby. Thank you for sharing your time with us to read about our family. Please know that your child will be loved and will be a blessing to any adopting family.
We are John and Leslie, and we have a 5 year old daughter, Andrea. We have been happily married for 8 years, and our story began when we became best friends at Xavier University. At first, we were just friends, but, as time passed, we realized that our friendship had grown into love and we began dating. After graduation, John began his career as an accountant and has moved to various financial positions at a local company. He is very hard working, self motivated, and successful. John loves all kinds of music: rock, country, hip hop, classical, you name the genre and he probably has it on his iPod. He sings in the choir at church, plays the trombone, and a little bit of the guitar. He is a fun-loving, affectionate man who loves people, especially his family. John cherishes his time with us and is always looking for family activities. John’s parents live out of town, but they visit fairly often. He also has a younger sister who is in nursing school in Columbus.
Leslie is a full-time mother and the creative spirit in the family. She likes to tackle home improvement projects and has great ideas for our home and crafts to do with Andrea. Leslie has three sisters and a brother who all live in town. Among them, there are 11 grandchildren all under the age of 11. Leslie gets together with them very frequently (at least once a week) for the kids to play and for some adult social time. She thrives when she is with them. She is a thoughtful and generous woman, always helping others whenever she can. Leslie volunteers at our church as the wedding coordinator and church decorator. Every Christmas and Easter, she is the one who makes the church look beautiful. She likes flower arranging, photography, scrapbooking and any other crafty project she can get her hands on.
Andrea is very excited to start kindergarten in the fall and has been practicing her reading and writing. She loves to cook, swing on the swing set, read books, and play games with Mom and Dad. Throughout the year, Andrea participates in many activities and likes to try new things, like soccer, ballet and swimming lessons. In the summer, Leslie and Andrea grow a vegetable garden in the backyard, along with a bird garden to attract various types of birds. Andrea loves to play with friends or cousins and is very eager to expand our family (she asks everyday). Like her Dad, she loves music and is always singing or making up her own words, using markers as drumsticks. On Sundays, we have “Breakfast with the Beatles,” which consists of eating a bigger breakfast than the rest of the week while listening to The Beatles. It is a tradition we started when she was a baby and hope to continue as long as everyone is willing. Andrea
loves babies and will be a great big sister; she loves to help her younger cousins and takes very good care of our dog, Lucy.
We value time spent together as a family. Although John works hard, he is home for dinner with the family almost every night. After dinner, we play games, read books, do puzzles, and say prayers together. We go to church every Sunday, and we have many friends there. We both love the holidays (starting with Halloween!): decorating the house, having people over, and going to family gatherings. This is a special time of year and something that we treasure. We always celebrate Christmas with both sides of the family sometime over the Christmas holiday. These times are important to us because we are surrounded by people we love, and we show them that we care for them too. Another child in our family will only bring more happiness and another laugh to the party!
We are very eager to expand our family. We have been unsuccessful for several years at having another child, and we feel that adoption is the best way for us to grow our family. Leslie’s brother was adopted so this is a very welcome and familiar step in our minds. Our family is the most important part of our lives, and we both feel great joy from spending time with each other and Andrea, teaching Andrea, and having adventures together. Please know that we are praying for you.
With great joy,
John and Leslie
