If you are pregnant and considering adoption, you are making a loving parenting decision to put your child’s needs before your own, and to give your child more than you can provide. Adoption is a courageous plan that gives your child the quality of life that you may not be able to offer.
You may be feeling overwhelmed with thoughts and questions surrounding an unplanned pregnancy.
Adoption Connection offers free confidential counseling to help you decide if adoption is right for you. We are here to support you, without judging you, and to answer all of your questions openly and honestly. And we will give you the information you need so you can feel comfortable with whatever decision you make about your child’s future.
Remember, this is your plan and you are in control. But you do not have to go through this alone.
Our social workers are here for you when you need us, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will come to you, meet in a neutral location of your choice, or meet with you in our office. Again, birth parents receive our services for free.
If you decide that adoption is the right loving choice for you and your baby, you will feel secure with one of our experienced social workers at your side guiding you through the adoption process.
After the adoption is completed, free counseling and support will continue to be available.
Here are some questions you may be asking:
Do I need special medical care while pregnant?
It is important for your baby’s health as well as your own health that you see a doctor throughout your pregnancy. Don’t worry about the costs. Your pregnancy medical expenses will be covered. Adoption Connection will assist you in finding competent prenatal care.
How do I begin the adoption process?
The adoption process begins by sitting down together to design an adoption plan. We will discuss the different levels of openness, and learn what you are looking for in an adoptive family.
Who chooses the adoptive family?
Although we will help you select a family that meets your wants and desires for your child’s future, you choose the family and we will honor your choice.
What if I want a closed adoption? You have the right to request confidentiality so that the adoptive family and your child do not know you or have identifying information about you. We respect your decision if you would like a closed or confidential adoption.
Can I get help with my living expenses? When you decide to make an adoption plan, you can receive assistance with your living expenses such as food, housing, transportation, and clothing.
How do I tell the baby’s father or my family about my decision? With over 100 years combined experience in adoption, our social workers can guide you in talking with your baby’s father and your family about your decision to make an adoption plan, or to parent your child. Again, birth parents do not have to pay a fee for these services.
