Domestic Adoption

Are you adopting a child born in the United States?

Adoption Connection’s experienced team of adoption social workers gives you the support and education you need at every stage...from orientation to homestudies to placement to finalization and to post finalization services.

Adoption Connection, which is an Ohio-licensed non-profit private child placing agency, is welcoming to all regardless of number of children, religion, race, sexual orientation, marital status, or age. Although we specialize in placing infants under the age of 6 months, our expertise also covers identified, interstate, relative, and step-parent adoption services.

Domestic Adoption occurs when prospective adoptive parents are matched with a child born in the United States whose birth parents voluntarily surrender their parental rights to Adoption Connection and make an adoption plan for their child. Adoption Connection is able to assist with placements across Ohio state lines through the Interstate Compact for Placement of Children (ICPC).

With over 100 years of adoption social work experience, our Adoption Connection team provides:

  • Supportive Services

  • Homestudy Education
  • Classes to guide you through the adoption process

INTERSTATE ADOPTION

Interstate Placements for domestic adoption occur when a child is born in one state and the adopting parents reside in another.

Should this situation occur, Adoption Connection, which is licensed by the State of Ohio as a nonprofit private child placing agency, may file an Interstate Compact Placement Request. By following specific rules and guidelines, Adoption Connection may make the Interstate Placement.

RELATIVE ADOPTION

Do you want to adopt a child who is a blood relative?

Relative Adoption in Ohio takes place when you wish to adopt a child who is a blood relative for whom you have been providing full-time care in your home for at least twelve months.

Adoption Connection can provide the State of Ohio required Relative Adoption Homestudy Assessment. This includes in-home interviews for all household members, completion of required documentation, and filing the documentation in Probate Court.

STEP-PARENT ADOPTION

Do you want to adopt your spouse’s child or children?

Step-parent Adoption occurs when the child’s stepfather or stepmother assumes financial and legal responsibility and the non-custodial parent is released from all parenting responsibilities.

Adoption Connection can provide the State of Ohio-required Step-parent Adoption Homestudy Assessment. This includes one in-home interview for all household members, completion of required documentation, and filing the documentation in Probate Court.
