We are Bryan, Kelly and Bauer. We are honored and thankful that you are taking some time to get to know our family. We cannot imagine the weight of the decision you are working through right now. It’s our hope that you meet the family you are searching for. Should that family be ours know that we are completely open to an on-going relationship, if that is something you feel comfortable with. Either way you will be considered an extension of our family.
We met 10 years ago while working together at the University of Cincinnati, in the department of athletics. We love the Bearcats! We quickly learned that we had more than our love for sports and the Bearcats in common. We dated for close to three years before getting engaged at the Circleville Pumpkin Show. About one-year later we got married in a small town, on the banks of the Ohio River, just across the river from Kelly’s hometown.
While we no longer work for UC we are supporters of the University and their athletics programs. We have season tickets to both football and basketball games. It was awesome getting to take Bauer to his first Bearcats game! He loved the band, and wanted to know where the Bearcat mascot was the entire game.
I’ve lived my entire life in Cincinnati. I’m really lucky to have had some of the same friends since preschool. I value the fact that we’ve chosen Cincinnati as the home for our family. We even moved into the neighborhood that is behind my high school. I’m a fan of the local teams, the Reds, Bengals and the Bearcats top the list of my favorite teams. Being a husband and a dad is my main hobby, but I still manage to listen to the Reds game while cutting the grass, or catch a Bengals game during naptime. One of my favorite things to do with Kelly and Bauer is to taking them to Coney Island, where I worked during high school. I work as an analyst and have been with my company for over eight years. I also enjoy working out, Kelly and Bauer gave me a Fitbit and it’s not uncommon for us to surpass 20,000 steps a day, on the weekends. Beyond all the family running around I’m sure to have a home project that is either beginning or wrapping up.
One of my favorite things to do is to read cookbooks. I love to cook! I make out-of-this-world meatballs. I also like making homemade ice cream, fresh pasta, and homemade cookies. My love of food doesn’t stop in the home kitchen as I work in marketing for a global food company. Through work I’ve volunteered at Ronald McDonald House cooking meals for the residents. Through our church I’ve packed weekend meals for children in need, which are then distributed via community schools. I also love to read (regular) books and try to practice yoga as often as possible.
Bauer is nearly three years old and he loves trains, playing outside, farms, reading books and the beach. He really enjoys going to school. He loves it when mommy will pick him up in the stroller and walk home together. On the weekends his favorite place to go is the zoo, where he sees the animals from his VIP seat on daddy’s shoulders.
After two years in a tiny one-bedroom home we bought a four-bedroom home in a family friendly community. Our house is nestled on a private drive and we are surrounded by young families. The community school system is rated excellent. In the evening we love to go for walks around the neighborhood and we enjoy our neighborhood pool on the weekends. We are fortunate to count our neighbors as good friends! Our children are very close in age and attend the same school.
Our Family Journey
In the beginning we were excited to fill our beautiful home with furniture, but more excited to grow our family. We struggled to get pregnant, but after three rounds of fertility treatments were blessed with a healthy, comfortable and uneventful pregnancy. We welcomed our son Bauer into the word in November 2012.
Shortly after Bauer was born we tried to expand our family through fertility treatments. After two years of trying to get pregnant we decided to stop fertility treatments because they were so physically and emotionally painful. We have come to understand that God has a different vision and path for our family.
Several years ago Kelly’s sister, Jamie, made an adoption plan for her birth-child Rachel. Jamie and Rachel have recently reconnected and our families have really enjoyed getting to know each other. Jamie and Rachel have developed a beautiful relationship; it has inspired us to open our hearts to adoption and to understand openness more deeply.
We really try to spend a lot of time together as a family. Some of our favorite things to do are going to the zoo, visiting the aquarium, attending baseball, football or basketball games. We never miss the Circleville Pumpkin Show, where we enjoy lots of pumpkin doughnuts, pumpkin burgers and pumpkin pie. During the summer we never miss the Greek festival, from which we take home lots of homemade Greek pastries.
We’ve been fortunate to vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina and Hilton Head, South Carolina with our extended family. We’ve also taken quick trips to Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. We’re excited for an upcoming trip to Hocking Hills, Ohio – where we’ll stay in a cabin in the woods and enjoy some hiking. These are the type of experiences we hope to share with a new family member in the very near future.
We deeply appreciate the time you have spent getting to know our family. We would welcome any questions that you have for us. It’s not lost on us that our desire to expand our family isn’t possible without your sacrifice. We will pray for you and your baby every day.
